Hi, I'm Manas.
this is the part where I explain the desk
me, roughlythe interesting bitI find questions I can't stop thinking about, mostly about AI, technology, money, products and how people actually behave, and then I try to take them apart.
Sometimes that means writing an essay. Sometimes it means building a benchmark, a small model you can push on, a chart, a dataset, a teardown of a company, or just writing a note before I forget it. So this site isn't a blog. It's closer to my desk: the things I'm working on, left out where you can pick them up.
Everything is filed under the question it's trying to answer. Most questions aren't answered. That's fine; that's what they're for.
what you'll find on the desk
- EssayAn argument, written out in full.
- ModelA small, explicit model you can push on. The assumptions are the point.
- BenchmarkA repeatable measurement with a protocol, results and limits.
- VisualizationAn idea drawn to scale.
- ExplainerOne mechanism, taken apart to the depth you choose. Each level assumes only the one above it.
- AnalysisA teardown of a company, product or structure.
- TimelineEvents in order, looking for the pattern.
- DatasetCollected data, published so others can use it.
- CollectionSources, annotated. Research made visible.
- ToolSomething you can use, not only read.
- NoteA small observation, filed before it is forgotten.
how sure I am
- OpenA question I am collecting material for.
- InvestigatingWork under way; nothing settled.
- Provisional answerAn answer I would bet on, and expect to revise.
house rules
Show the working. Say when numbers are placeholders. Change things in public rather than quietly. Prefer a small true chart to a big impressive one.
Anything in blue pen is me thinking out loud. Anything highlighted is the part that matters.
